Birchez Associates LLC
Founded in 2002, Birchez Associates (Building Ideas for Rural Community Housing) is a development company based in Kingston, NY, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, committed to providing affordable, quality housing for seniors, workforce families and veterans – those who need housing most.
Founder and managing member Steven L. Aaron has a 40-year history in real estate development, property management and construction. Steve began working in affordable housing in 1977 with his father, Martin Aaron, who spearheaded the first privately financed senior housing in Ulster County. From its initial staff of three, Birchez Associates has grown to include 30 employees. During construction, which has been nearly non-stop over the last eight years, the company employs hundreds through its subcontractors.
For each of its affordable housing projects, Birchez Associates brings the same energy, dedication and attention to detail that other developers typically reserve for high-end retirement or gated communities. The firm goes above and beyond in every aspect of its projects, even allocating company funds to ensure that its communities not only meet industry standards, but achieve Birchez Associates’ own standard of excellence. Birchez Associates has developed four affordable senior housing communities in Ulster County: Chambers Court and The Birches at Chambers in the town of Ulster, The Birches at Saugerties and The Birches at Esopus. And with its fifth affordable senior housing community, The Birches at Schoharie, the firm enters a second New York county. All five rival quality retirement communities built to rent or sell at market rates. The company also developed Birchwood Village, the first workforce family housing to be built in Kingston in over 30 years. Together, these communities have transformed the lives of over 400 families.
